Great adventures await all models at the beginning of their careers. For Selita Ebanks, this was especially true when she was 17-she was discovered at New Jersey's Six Flags Great Adventure by Women Model Management.
A Native New Yorker of Caymanian, Jamaican, Irish, Indian, and African heritage, Selita is a reflection of beauty inside and out. She was raised an only girl in a household of seven boys by her New York Police Captain father. While he instilled manners, values, and respect in his children, her brothers also influenced Selita's love for sports. She grew up playing basketball, tennis, and football, among others.
A gifted and hard-working student, Selita was accepted into Columbia, Spellman, and New York University, making her decision to pursue a modeling career and postpone an education a very difficult one for her family.
Selita is active in the New York and Cayman Islands communities, and has been a mentor in the Seamen's Society of Staten Island, working with local schools, churches and community groups to provide individual and family counseling, HIV/AIDS education and prevention, leadership skills, peer support groups and recreation. She initiated a mentoring program in the Cayman Islands called the Stardom Youth Foundation providing career guidance for teenagers.
While Selita has worked with some of the world's most noted photographers-including Peter Lindbergh, Bruce Weber, Steven Klein, Carter Smith, and Mikael Jansson-and for some of the most quintessential American fashion campaigns (Ralph Lauren, Abercrombie & Fitch, Levi's and Tommy Hilfiger), her career aspirations came true when she was chosen to be a Victoria's Secret Angel. Now she works with all the best fashion photographers and film directors in the Victoria's Secret family.
Since August 2005, Selita has been a contract face for Victoria's Secret lingerie and beauty, appearing in Victoria's Secret print, broadcast, Web, catalogue, outdoor and point-of-sale creative advertising campaigns.
